Nischayathartham is a sacred pre-marriage ceremony in Brahmin traditions that marks the official agreement and blessing between two families for the marriage of the bride and groom.
It signifies the mutual acceptance of the alliance and is performed with devotion, as per Vedic and Agama traditions.

The ceremony begins with the Ganapathi Pooja to remove all obstacles and bless the function with auspiciousness.
The priest performs Punyahavachanam by sprinkling holy water to purify the place, participants, and items
A Kalasham is established invoking deities such as Lord Vishnu, Lakshmi, and family deities (Kula Deivam).
The Vadhyar (priest) checks the Panchangam (Hindu almanac) and formally announces the Muhurtham (wedding date and time) based on the bride and groom’s Nakshatra and horoscope.
The priest ties the Kankanam (sacred yellow thread) on both the bride’s and groom’s parents, symbolizing divine witness and blessing.
The father or guardian of the bride announces the engagement and invites blessings from all present.
