Sathyanarayana Pooja is a sacred Hindu ritual dedicated to Lord Vishnu, performed to seek divine blessings for prosperity, peace, and happiness in life. It is believed that performing this pooja with devotion removes obstacles, fulfills wishes, and brings harmony to the family.
This pooja can be performed on any auspicious day — especially on Purnima (Full Moon day) or during special occasions like housewarming, marriage, or success celebrations.

Set up Lord Sathyanarayana’s idol or photo on a decorated platform.
Lord Ganesha and the nine planets are worshipped to remove obstacles and bring divine blessings.
The pandit or devotee takes a Sankalpam (vow) stating their name, gotram, place, and reason for performing the pooja.
The Kalasha (holy pot) is invoked as the seat of Lord Vishnu.
The five chapters of the Sathyanarayana Katha are read or chanted.
Offer fruits, flowers, sweets, and prasadam to the deity.
Perform Aarti (waving of light) to Lord Sathyanarayana with devotion.
Remove the Kalasha water and sprinkle it in your home as holy water.

Vaathiyar and devotees take a vow stating the purpose of the Homam — such as health, prosperity, or spiritual purification.
Holy water is sanctified and sprinkled to purify the place, the participants, and all pooja materials.
Kalasams (sacred pots) are placed and worshipped, symbolizing divine presence and blessings.
The ritual begins with invoking Lord Ganesha to remove all obstacles and ensure the successful completion of the Homam.
The sacred fire (Agni) is invoked with mantras, as it is the divine messenger carrying the offerings to the Gods.
Ghee, herbs, grains, and other offerings are poured into the fire while chanting powerful Vedic mantras specific to the Homam being performed.
Devotees walk around the fire and offer salutations, signifying surrender and gratitude to the divine.
Aarti is performed to the deities, symbolizing the removal of darkness and spreading of divine light.
