Thithi Pooja, also known as the Annual Shraddha Ceremony, is a sacred Vedic ritual performed every year to honor and express gratitude to one’s ancestors (Pithrus). It is an important karma (duty) prescribed in the scriptures to ensure peace and liberation
(moksha) for the departed souls and to seek their blessings for family prosperity and well-being.
This pooja is performed on the Thithi (lunar day) corresponding to the date of departure of one’s ancestors,
usually performed by the eldest male member of the family under the guidance of learned priests.
Offerings such as Pinda (rice balls), Til (sesame), water, and food are made to the ancestors with devotion and respect.
Performing Thithi Pooja ensures continuity of blessings, removal of ancestral doshas, and harmony within the family.
